If there is anything I have learned over my time as a believer, it is that the enemy does not fight fair. Let me start by saying if you are a Christian, a follower of Christ Jesus, you have an enemy of your soul. Whether or not you realize it, when you came into the Kingdom of God from the kingdom of darkness you entered a war. A war for your purpose, a war for your destiny, a war to keep you from becoming everything God called and created you to be.
Take heart, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We are all there with you. That is why Paul tells us to put on the FULL armor of God in Ephesians 6 because this battle we face is not against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities. That means we cannot fight the fight in the flesh.
But oh we do. We fight really good in the flesh. Our emotions take control, we say things in anger, we fight against those we love, rather than for those we love. Which causes more division and more disunity within our homes, our safe place.
2 Corinthians 10:3-4 reminds us that we don’t wage war as humans do. We use the weapons God has given us. Those weapons are not of this world.
The enemy though wants nothing more for us to fight the wrong fights. When we take our eyes off of God, the one whom our victory lies, and we focus on the fleshly war around us we become exhausted, we are restless, we can become angry, or fearful, anxious, and depressed. Our peace and joy is gone, because devil has come to kill, rob, and destroy, and we allow him to. Been there more times than I care to admit, still there some days if we are being honest.
Here is what we fail to remember often times is he doesn’t fight fair. Often it isn’t the stranger that causes deep hurt in our hearts it is those we love and hold dearest in our hearts. He is not picky; he wants nothing more than to cause division and disunity. That’s why he goes after families. Using those in our homes to get us offended, hurt us, make us believe lies about ourselves. Those that are supposed to have our backs and be there through thick and thin. When someone we love and have spent years of our lives pouring into attacks us in the natural it is really hard to remember the battle is spiritual.
However, we have to remind ourselves that this war is not against those we love, they are merely a pawn in this game the enemy is playing. We pray for them. We go to God on their behalf. We use our sword of the Spirit and bind the powers and principalities that are operating in our homes and in our loved ones. We call out the lies of deception they are walking in and pray that God would reveal the truth to them so that they can be set free. We use the authority we have been given in Christ Jesus to defeat an already defeated devil.
Remember, God has no rivals. Satan and God are not on level playing fields. He knows he is already defeated; he just doesn’t want us to know that. Armor up. Learn how to use the weapons God gave you and fight the battles you were created to fight. Be a warrior not a worrier.
